Animal Bites and Rabies Information

  • The local Health Department is responsible for reporting animal bites to the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH).  With ISDH, we work to control rabies.  There has been no rabies in domestic dogs and cats for many years.  Locally bats are a concern.

  • The Elkhart County Health Department does not carry rabies vaccine.
